About the Event

Environmental Education + Beach Cleanup + Canoe Trip

Open to children & youth from 5 to 18 years old. All youth must be accompanied by one parent or guardian at all times (no drop-offs). Members of our Litter Busters & Youth Environmental Stewardship Club are invited to register for this event

This is a great opportunity for a fun day at the lake with your kids while learning about the environment.

Youth will learn environmental concepts regarding the negative impact of litter & dumping on Stave Lake and to its local wildlife. Participants will actively be apart of the solution by engaging in a beach cleanup. Afterwards, Ridge Wilderness Adventures will be bringing everyone on a canoe trip to further explore Stave Lake. The canoe trip will act as a floating classroom so that we can learn more about the lake. During the canoe trip, Ridge Wilderness Adventures will also teach us basic canoe skills such as how to wake the canoes, eagle stroke, and salute. We will end the day with a canoe race.

This event is free or by donation. All donations will be used towards our youth environmental programs. MESSociety is a registered charity and can give out a tax receipt for donations over $25. Checks can be made payable to “Mission Environmental Stewardship Society”, etransfers can be sent to mchapman@messociety.ca,  & cash will also be accepted in person at our office.

All participants must dress appropriatly for the weather and bring their own lunch.

Not in one of our environmental clubs yet? Mission youth can be signed up for free on wour website.
