LITTER BUSTERS CLUB APPLICATION

The Litter Busters Club is a FREE program offered to children between the ages of 4-11 years old in Mission, BC. The Litter Busters Club has been operating since 2012 and is designed to promote education & awareness of the negative impact of litter on our environment & foster environmental leadership within our local youth. Members are encouraged to be apart of the solution, not the pollution. 

Members get a FREE litter picking kit and activity booklet along with invitations to Litter Busters events.

*ALL LITTER BUSTERS MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A GUARDIAN WHEN LITTER PICKING

The Mission Environmental Stewardship Society, Province of BC, and the City of Mission want to help you keep Mission litter free. Please take the following pledge to show your commitment to our community.

Litter Busters Pledge

I agree and pledge to:

1. NEVER litter and always put waste in the appropriate place:

   in the garbage, recycling or compost.

2. Help clean up Mission by picking up 5 pieces of litter or more at:

   a park, school or in my neighbourhood.

3. Reduce the amount of garbage I make & reuse things as much as possible.

   
   

THE MISSION ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP SOCIETY agrees to:

1. Supply materials including an activity book and litter picking kit.

2. Inform and invite members to Litter Buster events.

Release and Waiver Agreement

By signing this document you waive certain rights including the right to sue. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

TO: THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF MISSION, ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, DIRECTORS and VOLUNTEERS AND THE MISSION ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP SOCIETY (together called "THE RELEASEES").

ASSUMPTION OF RISK

I am aware that engaging in a MESS activity may involve certain risks, dangers and hazards, including, but not limited to picking up dangerous debris and collision with passing traffic. I agree to ensure that all participants wear a safety vest and use proper tools (such as gloves, tongs and/or EZ Reachers) while participating to minimize any such risks and I freely accept, and fully understand and assume all risks and dangers and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting therefrom including NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT; OR BREACH OF ANY STATUTORY OR OTHER DUTY OF CARE, INCLUDING ANY DUTY OF CARE OWED UNDER THE OCCUPIERS LIABILITY ACT R.S.B.C. 1996, C.337 on the part of the Releasees.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

By participating in the MESS program I hereby agree on behalf of myself and any other participants:

1. TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that myself and our organization participants have or may in the future have against the Releasees.

2. TO RELEASE THE RELEASEES from any and all liability for any loss, damage, injury or expense that I/we may suffer or that my next of kin may suffer as a result of participating in the MESS Adopt-A-Block program due to any cause whatsoever, including negligence on the part of the Releasees and including NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT, OR BREACH OF ANY STATUTORY OR OTHER DUTY OF CARE, INCLUDING ANY DUTY OF CARE OWED UNDER THE OCCUPIERS LIABILITY ACT R.S.B.C. 1996, C.337 on the part of the Releasees.

3. TO HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE RELEASEES for any and all liability for any property damage or personal injury to any third party, resulting from our organizations participation in the program.

4. This Release shall be effective and binding upon myself and our organizations participants heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and assigns, in the event of any one of ours death.

I have read this Release prior to signing it and I understand its effect. I am aware that by signing this Release I am waiving certain legal rights which I, my participants or our heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and assigns may otherwise have had against the RELEASEES.
